Check the spark first. Most times when an engine dies like this, it's ignition related. Make sure the spark at each cylinder will jump a 1/2" gap with a hot lighting like spark. Seeing a little spark at the spark plug really doesn't say a lot about the ignition system. Last Sunday I ran about 100mile trip with zero problems, arrived back close to the dock turned both motors off to talk to a friend and one motor failed to start back up. It has power to the motor, trim works, turn the key on and fuel pump primes, you CAN start it by jumping the solenoid and seems to run fine, but will not even turn over at the key. Have checked to 10amp fuse its good. Any help Just bought a 2005 etec 75 that needed hp fuel pump supposedlywell replaced pump and nothing. Checked voltage at pump with key on 12v.
